Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

          Agree it loos neat.

Except for the holes in the bar and the work you'll need to do to return it to OEM size if you sell it without those plates.

I wish dealers would ask you when the car is delivered whether you would like that big arse front plate holder on or not

Most people don't want it on and buying a new grille for a GT/GTI is $550 plus $130 for badges.

I thought that the state had to be clearly displayed on the number plate?

Prices might have changed in the last 12 months, but l bought a new grille for my GTI (minus the euro mounting) from Barloworld for $163.85 all up.

                With euro mounting

Hey there. Do you have part number for that?

                  That's EXACTLY what I need.

Did you have to remove the grille (honeycombe, badge, vw symbol) out of the whole thing? It looks tricky

That looks much neater, that's how it should come default if getting slimeline plates. I want mine to look like that, don't suppose the dealer would swap the grill on mine to a non euro drilled one for free.

                    Options are:

                    1) leave it as it is
                    2) remove euro backing plate but have to put up with the holes (not preferable)
3)enquire about a new grill without the holes (more money!)

If option 3 is taken does this mean that i would have to drill my own holes for the slimline plates???
