Is this only available on GT and R32?
is it available on my TDI because mine seem to struggle on hot days too. But when I mentioned that to a dealer, go tit checked and everything was OK
You will have to turn yours down as low as you can go 18-17-16-Lo.

Prev 2008 R32 3 door DSG.
Prev 2010 S3 Sportback Stronic.
Now Lexus IS350 F Sport
I leave the climate control on all the time. I bought the Golf in winter, now with summer coming on it doesn't have the cooling omp of my previous 'Fords'

So you hold economy button and what else.....? I have only recycle button and thats it. Some one has refer to vent button here. Where is that?
Or vent button is same as recycle button?
edit
My aircon is different. It is not as per instructions. I can't do anything
My aircon in a TDI Pacific will not cool the interior to a comfortable level. Most of my trips are an hour or longer and with the setting on low with fans roaring it is still not reducing the humidity and cold enough. Do any of you know what VW accepts as a correct temp at the outlets? Also the on/off button on the large vent on the top of the dash wont budge from the on position. I can't feel much air from this outlet is that normal? les
climatronic LO setting from memory places the aircon into recycle mode at full fan.
provides maximum cooling effect.
haven't had any issues with aircon here.
on hot days I don't really touch the climate control dials, just drop the 4 windows and drive off, get some fresh air into the car and then put them back up again.
The additional tinting helps block out allot of the heat.
when all else fails read the instructions so I read the handbook. By turning off the outlet on the dash top and turning on the center vents. It is cools better

. . .The AC always stays running as well but at 2% to keep the system lubricated in the event of non use.
That's interesting. Another thoughtful idea from VAG.
Anyway, hit 40.0C today according to MFD and had the car in the sun. I wound down the windows and let the hot air out and then wound them up. Set the aircon to recirculation and it worked quite well. Remember, on hot days you must select recirculation mode so that the cooler air is cooled even further.
I had my temperature set to 20C. I might try the Lo setting to see how that goes. But as I said, I had no problems. At least no different from my previous rides.
Last week was extremely hot in Perth and my Pacific's aircon is fine. If the car had been sitting in the sun I would just put my window down for a few minutes - same as any other car. Candy White with no aftermarket tinting.
I usually leave it on auto set to 22C.
Edit: Perhaps people could state whether they have the climate control on auto or whether they are controlling it manually, also have you got Economy selected?
I know for maximum cooling the fan should be on highest setting, temp set to Lo, blower set to blow from the upper/face vents and the air on recirculate.
So when I leave mine on auto at 22C it will automatically do the above to pull the temp down as fast as possible
Maximum heating is the same except temp to highest and air blowing from feet/floor vents.
Sometimes, after I had an aircon for about an hour, I can sort of smell something like moisture even with aircon still blowing.
Also another thing I noticed is that puddle of water that forms underneath your car is very small, even after an hour of solid running and max cooling and fan speed on 2.
I have asked dealer, last time at the regular service, to check my aircon, adn they came back with everything is fine, but I just git that feeling something is not quite right.
Is there a person in Perth area with VAGCOM that I can visit and eventually see what options are available turned on or off. Dealer will not give me the list.
I usually turn the temp to lo and also change the air to come from the front. I have also tried to turn off the vent on the dash and also the rear. Itis also set to recirculate too.
I would describe the a/c today as to be cool but not chilly cold.
I've always noticed the Golf's A/C is rather anemic. Compared to the monster A/C that's in our CX-9, it barely copes with the hot weather.
I'm guessing there's a very smallish compressor in it, compared to other makes... It can't really cope.
What I found to be a great tactic either before you take off, or just after your trip starts, is just to find some shade. Let the car run with the A/C going for a minute or two.. Once it's 'broken the back' of the heat in the car, it generally cools down real nice and will stay that way for your entire trip. Even so much as 30 seconds can do it.
It was 43.5 C on the MFD outside Adelaide yesterday and after gettign started it was quite comfortable with the climate control set to 20C and set to Auto.
My partner went out last night and she always wants it pointed at her feet and so Auto switches off. As such I found it warmer this morning than all yesterday until I realised what she had done and then turned it back to Auto. All was well!
By the way my fan sounds like a hair dryer on full speed but that usually stays like that for about 5 minutes and then drops back to about 1/2 speed.
