Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Boost leak/DV faulty ?

    Hey guys,

So I was on my way home last night, and after normal driving (no thrashing), I put my foot down, felt the car pull and as it hit boost, it just hissed a lot louder and the car felt like it hit a flat spot and just wouldn't pull like it usually would.

I have the APR upgrade and Carbon intake.

I spoke with Prestige Performance and they say that it sounds like the DV is 'kaput'.

I've got my car booked in for next week, so I guess I won't know for sure until then.

Do you guys think that this sounds like a faulty DV? Or a leak in one of the hoses?

    Thanks guys

      look

Unfortunately I haven't had the chance to have a proper look yet.

Where exactly should I be looking? Where is the DV located?

I'll have a look this afternoon when I get home from work.

DV is under the top right corner of the engine cover.

Correct me if I'm wrong someone?

Unfortunately the DV can only be seen from underneath the car... so your going to have to jack it up.

Refer to the following to help you out:

really! ours (Polo's) is just under the top right corner of the engine cover, as Aleksii said. Upgrading the DV is only a 10min job! (well that's how long it took me, and i've never fitted one before)

                OUCH! Thanks Alfy!

I guess that will give me something to do tomorrow morning..

Thanks for the feedback guys, I'll let you all know how I go.

The car is booked in at VW for next Friday.

I guess all I can do for now is have a look at the outside of the DV and check the hoses.

Ok, so I 'attempted' to get under the car, but not having ramps, that was impossible.

I switched the ECU over to the stock setting, and the car feels like a snail.

I'm pretty sure that it's the DV that's poo'd itself.

                    Is this a common thing?
