Hope I never need it BUT have had to use on other peeps's cars in the past.
There is a channel section under front seat that I screwed the mount into. The cable tie is just a fail safe if I knock the bottle clips.

Looks like a perfect fit - is that 1 or 2kg?
Any particular brand? i'd like to have one tucked away up front too.

I installed a 2.5kg as 1kg really isn't big enough except for a very small fire.

The rest of my install is documented at http://my-gti.com/213

Is yours screwed thru to metal or only to the liner?
I tried there but wasnt comfotable with the panel Liner) strength...with the weight on it in an accident.

I've screwed mine into the existing push in plastic grommet that goes through the metal which is quite strong there. The screw I used matches the existing screw so the fit is very strong. You could possibly put through two sheet metal screws or rivets through the panel behind the trim (after checking behind) for extra security in the extra holes on the mount at the top and bottom.

If you check the link to my site you can see photos of how I mounted it (click on the photos for a bigger one).
