Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Jetta Build Quality.

    Gday all.
I am just after some feedback on how all your 2007 and later Jetta's are holding up in regards to build quality, eg: Rattles squeaks etc. Cheers.

Mine is all pretty good. One noise from where the top vent is secured to the rest of the dash, but that will be attended to in the very near future when the Head Unit is replaced with SATNAV.

Same story here as Buckets. Fairly good build quality, with the exception of a rattle from the diffuser vent in the top of the dash. It can get quite annoying, and I'll be getting the dealer to take a look at it at the 7500km oil change. Apparently it is quite a common fault.

July build 2007 - no squeaks, no rattles.

But very slight coolant loss that is annoying the hell out of me.

Other than that - perfection on wheels!

MY07, I have some rattles but they are self inflicted from installing a GPS mount (dash rattle), non-dealer window tints (door card rattle and I think one in the trim panel that covers up the high mount stop light) and installing a subwoofer (can't find exactly where this one is).

As soon as I find somewhere that sells that felt tape stuff you wrap cable looms in I will fix them myself.

I don't have the centre vent rattle (yet).

I do have a squeaky drivers seat which I will be getting resolved next service.

              Hard to think of something

Ummmm ... thinking ... mmmm ....oh yes. Initially the one touch drivers window was a bit too sensitive so had that adjusted and after 23000 klm and 12 months the black is coming off the electric window switch for the drivers door (but it's used the most).
The only other complaint is the current cost of diesel, but after the initial outlay, it's lots cheaper per klm (ave 11c/k after 20000klm)
