  • Indicator light warning

    Hi all,

I had a warning light come on today and it shows that my front left indicator is not working. Which is true. On checking, it is not.

Anyway, it's a bit annoying given my car is only 8 months old.

Does anyone know what you need to do to replace this? Is the dealer best positioned to do it or can you just buy a bulb from somewhere?

I'm going on a road trip from Thursday (Sydney-Gold Coast and return) so obviously need it attended to fairly quickly!

(It's a Golf Comfortline by the way.)

Bulbs fail all the time, incandescent bulb technology is hundreds of years old. You can get 10 years or 10 minutes from a bulb.

Depending on the dealer they will sometimes replace them for free if you have your car serviced with them but otherwise just go and buy a bulb and fit it.

The manual list the bulb specs but take the faulty bulb out and go to your nearest car parts store and buy a quality replacement (avoid the really cheap ones).

      Point taken.

And thanks, I'll just go down and get one myself and fit it.

I'm pretty sure the replacement is covered in the manual, if not there are a thousand how to's on this site, golfmkv, vwvortex and so on.

The fronts are pretty easy to remove - just untwist its holder and it'll pop out of the lamp housing.

I replaced mine with some from SuperCheap that get rid of the amber blob in the front. Can't remember the cost, but they weren't too bad.
