  • 504whp & 11.7 second 1/4 mile

There have been a few GTI's running in the 11 & 12 second mark in the US - these things must be an absolute experience to drive

I assume they use some special types of tyres for this, my own last attempt at drags resulted in 300 metres of wheel spin and a near 3.0 second 60 foot time (they tell me thats crap )

How is it possible to handle such a power for a FWD car?

LSD, Slicks, Super hard suspension at the back - And if you go all out, wheelie bars.

But it'll never get off the line as quick as a 4wd or rwd car.

You should see the 1000hp+ FWD dragsters they are running in the US these days ! They are truly weird machines, with the engine cantilevered out in front of the front wheels and wheelie bars engineered to put all the weight on the front wheels as they increase in diameter as they get going. They are getting some impressive times out of them (but don't try to do anything but drive them in a straight line with them ).

mabye you need better tyres? how have you been launching/driving? manual shifts or leaving it in sport (esp off or on too)

hoping to get out to willobank to give mine a run, see what it can do. hoping to get more than a few runs as theres too many different ways you can drive it!

Normally with a high powered FWD you really need to pedal it off the line.

Eg. Launch using approx. 4500rpm & just ride the clutch out, not too much to cause wheelspin & or dumping & totally blow the tyres off!

My best is 2.2 60ft in my mk1 gti making approx 130hp.

Have a good look at the MPH of these car's too!

These thing's would be pulling harder than a school girl on prom night from half track!! ha ha

I also see they're using the same turbo I've got myself, as are alot of the 20vt boy's stateside. Excpet mine has a .82A/R exhaust housing.

                125 MPH! damn!

                They're really moving.

                Sub 2sec 60fts as well, V.good for a FWD with 500 horse!
