Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Need help replacing fuel filter on a 2.0l FSI engine

    Hi all,

Yesterday I serviced my Mk5 2.0 FSI for the first after I recently purchased it second hand.

Did the oil change, and replaced oil filter, air filter, cabin filter and all spark plugs.

I was also planning to replace the fuel filter but I couldn't disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel filter.

Any tip on how I can take them off? Is there something to unclip?

    Thanks

Squeeze the the tabs on the fitting, wiggle and pull.

The blue bit needs to be pushed in.
It is a tight space, remove the black plastic mounting strap and you may be able to get a better angle on it.
If you want to reduce the amount of fuel spilling, run the engine and pull the fuse for the fuel pump, wait for the engine to stall.
