Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Usually has a section in the manual as to what type each bulb in the car is. Break the seal and have a look LOL

Standard halogen are H7 bulbs. Xenon will be different.
If they are not as bright then perhaps the lens needs to be cleaned, bulbs don't fade out they work 100% or die.
      MK4 GTI - Sold

All R32's in the AU market came quipped with Bi-Xenon headlights.
The bulb you are after is D2S and yes they will diminish in light output over the years.

              Jinx!

My R32 just had a parking headlight go out, they must be running on a schedule!

I couldn't replace the drivers' side cos it was jammed in, even tried to remove whatever that black canister thingy is to get more hand-room, and still couldn't get it out!

If you're going to DIY (and have to take out the whole headlight) I'd consider just replacing all the globes at the same time..
