Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

It would only be a fleeting re-consideration for me....With a head like mine, I need all of the chances with girls I can get!!

          Is she alright...??
I bet she was pretty upset and needed a good cuddle .

On that pole I would certainly be persuing thru property services before your insurance.. They have a responsibility to make hazards clearly visible. I can see a lawyers letter coming on..

Thats already been done, they came out and took photos etc. the pole has been there for ages, yes, but the road had been narrowed down to a single lane at that point and over 400 parking spaces removed. my thinking is to get the insurance company to deal with it and cahse up the property owners, which is a university.

rough estimate is about $1000 to fix.

If the post has been there for ages, they might try to absolve themselves of all responsibilty even though it is well camouflaged. Might be best if you can negotiate a happy medium with them. i.e. if you pay an amount equivalent to your excess they can make up the rest (providing your excess isn't more than the repair costs!) Would save you losing your rating 1 for life and possibly make them more inclined to pay up.
              Worth a shot....good luck
Might be helpful for others to get that post highlighted too!

On this note, I had a minor bit of work done on the Jetta when the wife's mate backed into it (yeah, she's a bright spark!).
The guys at Brighton Panels do a sensational job. Worth taking a look at them if you don't have anyone already lined up.

The pole has been there for ages, but the car park has had railings put up wich narrow the lanes significantly in the past couple of days, this was the case there and there have been other cases.

My gut feel is to not put it thru insurance as it will drop me to rating 3 and for the next 2 years my premiums will be hit, plus it will put the car on the register so that if i sell it, that will hit the resale value of it too as it will be on the record as having had a claim.

                      Cmon Steve

Have to explain now. I have used AAMI for the last 6 years and never had an issue. The one year i fell asleep at the wheel and pretty much wrote my car off was no dramas with them and great service.

I thought the register is only for written of vehicles?

They might be OK if the car gets written off, but as far as having any say whatsoever in how it gets fixed and by who, forget it.

Maybe different here if its being asked, i was prety sure in the UK if there was a claim against the car it got recorded against it.

either way, im too honest to say the car hasnt been in an accident if i get asked when it comes time to sell.
