dont hold your breath for the gti-r. too much speculation and false information always surrounds such concepts. go for the r32. if you're that worried about resale value, then im guessing you wouldnt be buying a new car.

The R32 will be the last V6 in a golf. I'd say thats a good thing for resale value, unless petrol ends up $10 a litre or something like that.

Cars never make money. Although owning a car was probably better than owning shares in the past 12 months

You see I ordered an R32 couple months ago...the arrival of my R32 is just weeks away....

        As excited as I am,

Not sure whether to hold off for a few years or go through with my order and possibly upgrade down the track,
I am assuming by then R32 will not be worth much and I am sure other R32 owners would be selling to upgrade..
        What are your thoughts??
I must say I havent heard too much about the Mark VI R32/GTI-R, but I understood rumour had it the engine was going to the 2.0lT tuned to similar power as the S3. I didn't know VW/Audi had a 2.5lTT? And I can't imagine them developing a new engine when their 2.0lTs are doing so well in numerous sports cars. And when you say you're not sure whether to hold off a few years and wait - u mean until the new 'R32' is released? That could be a while. Yeah it may be a better car when it comes out, but then when it does there will be another new model soon to be released and you'll be in the same situation.

And as far as losing money on your R32 is concerned then I wouldnt be buying new. Those first 2 years are the worst as far as depreciation is concerned. If you bought a 2/3 year old R32 and then sold it 2 years later you would be reducing the depreciation at least. Another to consider is the performance. The new 'r32' will be pretty quick, but if you're after something superior (performance wise) to the current R32 then there are already cars out there that will do that - S3, Sti, Evo, TT, etc

Its another form of torture fron VW
Not having a VW is more torture - life can be too short. Get it now, I reckon.

Just the other day on this forum was a tragic post about a man in his 20s having a very serious health episode, and yesterday a 57yo actor had a stroke and departed.

When you are also 57 (like me ) such things get your attention, and vindicate the decision to get the GTI even though I didn't need it.

If I'm still grinning when the R42 or GTI-R get here, I will probably indulge

too bad they wont make R32s anymore. I think its a great car and i really enjoy owning one. I'll be keeping it for a long time then, i dont think the price will drop on it too rapidly
Scirocco GTi-R would be nice (if they come up with such a thing)
