    Hi,

I was told that the ESP should be left switched on anyway. I'm not 100% certain but I think you will find that it is probably designed to flash on and off to indicate to you that it is turned off. It could be a fault, but your model may just be programmed differently to make it flash. Try driving the car with it switched on and then with it off and see if you can pick any difference, at least that way you'll know if the ESP is functioning properly or not. If in doubt just give your local VW service department a call.

    Cheers

if i'm parked on the side of the road and turn it off it still flashes one sec on one sec off.

I think it has something about this in your owners manual, take a look through, there may be a fault with the ESP system

That's as it should be. But then ... if you do some 'spirited' driving ... it will cut in to 'help' you.

You need to take you vehicle to a dealer ASAP as that is likely to be a fault in your ESP system.

If you have an at fault accident while the ESP is faulty your insurance company is not going to be too pleased.

I found when mine is off, its off. Like obviously ABS still works. But driving around on a skidpan ripping the handbrake worked a treat! Rear flicked round nicely!
