Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

If you really want to experience buffetting, turn the open knob to past its usual open position (it's spring loaded) to let the roof and cover slide ALL the way into the roof.

At anything over about 15kph, it will prolly burst both your ear drums!

This roof position is really only good for 'parking'.

I wonder if the alignment of the wind deflector makes any difference, ie. not sticking up high enough to deflect air going into cabin?

I tested my sunroof this morning on the way to work and it was fine with no buffetting wind in the cabin with all windows closed, even as I hit the freeway at 80-90 kph (unless I opened the sunroof all the way like BarneyBoy said then yes).

Interesting, Ive done highway speeds of 110 with the sunroof open all the way and didn't have any buffeting, mind you, you can feel the drag. I was actually kind of sad that it was deflecting too much air..... stick a hand (not mine of course) a bit out of the window and brings some very nice refreshing air....

Took it in today... they agreed its not good and its booked in again next week for them to look have another look at. They admit though that there probably isn't a hell of a lot they can do about it, but once they have given up, its time for letters to the MD of VW AU and if that doesn't help the board of VW AG in Germany.

I have no trouble going 'to the top'. I sent a letter once to OMEGA in Switzerland after swatch buggered up my Seamaster 2531.80 when servicing it (you think car servicing is expensive... try and get an Omega serviced )... 2 weeks later I had a brand new one arrive from the marketing director, so going onward and upward does work.
