where is my Aux in 3.5mm jack?

Well according to the VW Australia website the 08 R32 has the 3.5mm aux in as standard. I can't find mine? Ha da quick look under arm rest, but nothing obvious so maybe it doesnt have it. Does this mean they will fit it for free? Someone mentioned something about this earlier.

My car is an 08 model but built dec 07, but I thought it should have all the 08 features?

I didnt get one in my MY08 GTI but i know a lot of people did.
I demand a refund!

i got one inside my arm rest storage. apr08 built 5dr GTI.

No such luck in WA. They could not even find the part number in the Sydney warehouse...They also refused to fit it for free saying that there was variation the stock of 08 GTI's they had delivered, and it was luck whether you got it or not. I'd prefer one of these jacks over the damn ipod cable. Will wait for the Scirocco

I got one in mine 08/MY09. Very handy indeed. It's seems strange that some models have it but others don't. Did anyone get their GTI with no red strip across the front?!

I had the same issue Mar 08 build, directed them to the website where it clearly states it has the aux in for 08 models. Service manager said no problems it definately says its standard so they fitted it for me took no longer than 10 mins and i was away. Keep them honest guys. For me truely it is a must as we use podcasts at work so i need to be able to listen to them.

Heya... new member here but am a regular on golfmk5 forum. Have a MY08 R32, 3dr black manual.

What's the latest on this issue? I didn't get the socket on mine (MY08 but 07 build). I've got my VW service dept checking into whether there's a general 'retrofit' arrangement that is being offered, but i'm suspecting they'll come back saying "not on 07 build cars" (which seems odd as clearly the internal bits of the centre armrest have been designed to include this).

So who has had a dealer retrofit this for them (for free)? If you have, do you have an 07 build, MY08?

I'll let you know my service dept's answer when I get it.

Not to hijack the thread here, but does this also mean that those who don't have an AMP under the passenger seat can also get it fitted for free? What about bluetooth .. mine did not come facctory fitted?

check pg 3 of the current golf spec sheet - the aux in socket is meant to be standard. The bluetooth is optional. Amp should be standard on gti and r32 - if it's not under your seat ask your service dept to identify where it is - it'd be highly unlikely that it's not there because this has been in both cars since day dot.

And i got the answer from the service dept - they say the socket is only on MY09, 08 build cars. Sounds like a crock to me given that some here have a Jan 08 build, MY08 car and have it. I reckon the clearer explanation is that it was just introduced part way through the model year and VW were/are just trying to be vewy vewy qwiet about it (given the number of us MY08 drivers who were p*ssed off that there was no aux in socket and said so to the dealers when we were buying).

Standard feature on MY08 cars, website said it was standard and VW Service Manager said no probs and fitted it for me as advertised.
