  • Jetta aircon gone :(

Well, what can I say, 13247km on the clock and my 07 Jetta has decided that the aircon doesnt need to work anymore

Booked in to get serviced and looked at on Monday, am pissed off my 8 month old car has **** itself already

So much for dual zone aircon, they better fix it on Monday... Not happy Jan.

Your car still operates doesn't it so why get so angry, on all cars things break down and often it's something simple.

Dual zone AC doesn't mean dual redundant AC , all it means is you can control the temperature both sides independently.

I'm sure that if the service department can fix it for you on Monday they will, no point getting mad about it and no point getting mad at them about it either.

      Hey Mav,

did I say I was angry ? I said I was pissed off, perhaps it is my own fault expecting a new car to not have such a fault within the fist 12months of ownership. Believe me this is not the 1st new car I have ever owned but it is the first one to give problems sad to say. I know I know happens to the best of them out there.

Anyway, also reported the drivers elec window making noises. So anyway, I dropped that car off at 0730hrs Monday morning for it's 'first' official 'service' by the dealership ( had already had oil change done at 7500km dispite being told that it was not necessary, but being old school got it done anyway ) and also to have the air-con issue resolved. Got a call Monday afternoon around 4pm saying sorry car not going to be ready till Tuesday, air-con compressor, condenser and a relay had to be changed out. They would do that and call me today to pick it up, fine no problems, I'm on a 4 day off rotation so no problem. Oh and by the way, they have had a look at the door window, its a fault with the cable rubbing against the window (deformed cable) and they will order the cable in, might take a 'few' weeks to get it in. Again no problems.

So I went to pick the car up this afternoon after being told it will be ready by 1630hrs, we get there at 1645hrs and are told to take a seat in the lounge, they were just detailing the car.. Hmm, I though cool, free vacume and wash Good when you don't have to do this yourself Anyway 1715hrs get handed the bill for the 1st service, $373 to change 1 oil filter, refill with oil and rotate the wheels.. Most expensive 1st service I have had done to a vehicle, EVER.. Oil filter and move 4 wheels around they must pay their mechanics a fortune.. Anyway I digress. 1st thing we noticed walking up to the car was from mid door down it had not been washed, dirty finger marks all over the wheels, yes all 4 of them, OK late in the day, detailer was prolly in a hurry to go home, I know the feeling so say nothing. Get into the car, noticed had been vacumed so off we set on the 40min trip home, ahh air-con is working again For all of 20mins then back to that nice warm outside air-temp again..

So, phone call to the stealership but of course by the time we got home it was all locked up and everyone gone home so 1st thing in the morning I guess I will be back on the phone to them again.

This time aprt from being a little pissed off I might also get a little (only a little I promise) bit angry with them. Hopefully this time their might be an offer of a courtesy car as I am back to work Thursday morning at 6am for my next on rotation and of course because I don't live next door to work, and their not being any public transport in the sticks I'd hate to have to take any annual leave. But this is going to cause them some problems, because we work 10hr shifts I'm not going to be able to get back to them for the next week before 1730hrs when they close shop. Guess will find out tomorrow what the options are.

Anyway, I do hope my message doesn't upset your day. It will get sorted I know, its just the inconvience thats most annoying.. I know I have had a darn lucky run with car's up to now, I'm just hoping this isn't just the start of problems with this one...

EDIT: Forgot to mention, they had only vacumed the drivers footwell, didn't even lift out the mat to do it...

Ok I think it's worth getting mad over that bill.

I just had a quote for an oil change only of $145 + $26 for the filter from my dealer in Brisbane. That's for oil that's not far off $100 as well. Definitely be questioning the cost along with the other issues.

My dealership quoted me half an hour of labour ($50), a filter ($26) and few workship supplies/disposal (~$5) if I supplied my own oil so unless they use "Evian" oil they charged you $300 for what other dealers charged around ~$90.

It would be worth asking for a detailed breakdown of that $373 to make sure they haven't made some kind of error (or at least make them feel uncormfortable about the amount of time they take to do things). They will probably claim to have done a comprehensive "check", and also filled your windscreen washer reservoir.

Skip talking to the service advisors...this is a job for the service manager and the dealer principal. These sorts of experiences can really damage the brand so should be dealt with initially at this level of authority. If you get no joy...go all the way up the ladder at state level.

Where do these people get off treating their customers with such contempt? Are they just ?

Yep, I was quite happy with the price, I was going to supply my own oil but I may now use the dealers oil as they use a 504.00/507.00 Castrol SLX Professional LLIII Powerflow 5W-30 which is a decent oil.

Hi Tim, what has happened now? Did you get your car sorted out?

I'm having the same problem that my Jetta's aircond died last Sat and need to be replaced the whole system but my local dealer says it'll take a few days to order the parts in so until then I'll have to drive with windows down in the increasingly warmer spring days
