A couple of quick questions regarding Wheels and Suspension

So i ended up buying a GTI and am looking at some wheels, i had these next to the car this morning which i didnt think look too bad, they look kind of simular to the factory option 18s:

Just looking at the picture, and seeing the wheels in the back ground, I like the look of the black mesh ones with the polished steel outer rim hanging on the wall above your bonnet...IMHO, I thing they would suit it better than the ones you have in the pic, but then again, I'm not spending your money.

Here's my 19's. They're 19x8 +42 with 235/35 & 10-12mm drop with Eibach Pro kit.



You are really going to struggle with a 40-50mm drop and then trying to find a wheel to suit. Even the std combo would have trouble with that much drop.

My BBS.s go back on this week with new rubber. YAY!!!
I have about 45-50 m/m drop at the moment with the 17s fitted so I will take some pics with the 18s and that large a drop.
Tyre rubbing was a problem on bumpy windy roads down here.

Ive decided to fit the wheels first and then work out how low i want to go.

If i can fit 5X114.3's id love to get these:



If not i think id be happy with the red lipped ones which are available in 5X112:

well you're in luck because you can fit 5x114.3 with no modifications. you get wobble bolts from raderwerks and you're set. nice wheels you've chosen too

Are WobbleBolts approved in Australia?

I only ask because of insurance perspectives...

They are not spoken about as far as I know in the RTA book.

I was at a local wheel shop the other day and they were talking about sleeves which are meant to do the job, are they same things at these wobble bolts.

Will definately have to look into insuance/legality side just to be safer rather than sorry i think.

The raderwerks ones are TUV approved which is good enough for me. if they're TUV approved they wont cause a problem and so insurance will never be involved anyway. thats my view on it anyway.

I think i might play it safe and get the black ones with the red lip as they have the correct stud pattern for VW's, id rather be safe than sorry in the event that something went wrong.

Sorry to kick start an old thread, i ended up buying a set of 19X8" RS4 Replicas and am now looking at lowering the car pretty soon, this is the car as it currently sits:



As you can see it could do with a 20 to 30mm drop.

Id like to have it sitting like this:


Current options i am considering are:

H&R Springs which are meant to drop it around 1.4" all round (might be a tad low?)

Eibach Pro Kit which are meant to drop it around 0.7" all around (might be a tad high and not really worth it?)

Eibach Sportline Kit which are meant to drop it around 1.5" and 1.3" (might be a tad low?)

I had the Sportlines in my previous car and they were great, my only concern is that the GTI is a much lower car stock than my WRX was and with the 19s it might be a tad low.

I am hoping you might have some imput on which way i should go?

Pedders also do springs to suit. I have them on mine and perfectly happy with the handling they give and ride height.
