  • Indentations ???

    Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone else has noticed small indentations in the lower sill on their Golf. They are about the size of a 10 cent piece around 5mm deep and about 100mm in from the edge of the wheel arch on the front guards. I'm not sure if they are meant to be a guide for where the jack mounts are ?? The reason I ask is I just got the beast back yesterday after it's complimentary 1000 km check over and I hadn't noticed them before, I'm hoping they didn't damage it putting it up on the hoist. There is no paint missing just 2 small dents one either side at the front of the sills ??? I wasn't overly impressed with the service I received so I'm gonna be pretty pi$$ed if they have damaged it.

I noticed the same thing on my Polo - pretty sure they are markers for the jack mount points.

              Haha - RTFM.

*Real* men don't read manuals. They break it first, and then look up what they *should* have done.

When it comes to the dub, however, I might make an exception.

Glad this got sorted, as Russ had me climbing over my Golf looking for something unusual.....and I remember looking at the jack points thinking "surely not... "

Yeah it probably is, but it's much more fun to ask the question here

                      Hi Neil,

I agree it is fun. I've been lacking in the imagination of late

I think I must have had a bad day..... Sorry folks.

To be honest I hope to never have to use those little jacking points... they should be more than just dimples.

I think they are markers for the jack points. You have to mount the jack on the metal lip under the car, in line with the markers.
