who cares, its all in good fun. someone would just need to get it on video so we could all see the masses off black soot pouring out down the quarter

if you got a 17sec 1/4 it would only affect you in the sense you would feel as though you need to spend more money on the beast.

Wait until you've had an ecu remap and give it a go mate. My guess is you'll run a mid 15 and hit about 94 mph.

I saw a DSG GTI run down at Motorplex and it did 14.6 (I assume it was stock). My XR5 (with a few mods) ran 14.007 @ 101.8 mph the same night and that's with a very ordinary 60ft time - it's very hard to get the power down in a powerful FWD!!

with a remap i reckon quicker than that! i think into the 14's with a remap

Why'd you get rid of the XR5? What did you need to get the flat 14? Did it have LSD - is it even an option?

No soot thanks to the particle filter ( major exhaust restriction ) and the mod bug is gaining weight under my hood man!

Orse is going back to the XR5, damn fool knocked up his missus and had to buy a nest.... but sounds like a fast "go back to " huh!

I had this crazy notion about setting a better example (I'm an Env Scientist), and thought a fast and frugal diesel with a particulate filter was just the ticket for a tree huggin rev head (that's such an oxymoron I know) like myself - low Co2 output and still great to drive.

And I was right, the GT TDi really is the best of both world's, but as Greg said, I've since bought a house and become a dad, and I need some extra cash, so I'm selling the Golf and buying back the XR5 (I sold it to my best mate, who no longer needs/wants a car at all) and hopefully pocketing some serious change!

I love the GT, but to be honest I've really missed the Focus of late (that 5 pot burble is so addictive!) and I'm quite excited to be getting it back (So I can have a crack at the 13's this time!) in many ways.

I had a Pro Alloy intercooler, Dreamscience Race + ecu tune, and a K&N CAI. Good for about 215 kw and 450 nm. If it was awd it would do mid 13's easily.

Hehehe that is definitely a contradiction in terms. Yeah I read somewhere on the forums that you were going back to the XR5. I've always liked them; especially after watching Clarkson hammer it around a track.

The upside is with that damn hippie absent, we oilers can all start deleting our particle filters without the lecture.
