  • Parking sensors keep beeping

Hi, I am new to the VW Golf world. Just recently purchased a 2007 GT Sport TSi DSG from a private seller. It's in OK condition with a few little issues to address. One of them is the parking sensors beep when in reverse. As I get close to an obstacle, then the beeping gets faster until solid. That is how I expect them to work. But they shouldn't start beeping as soon as I put the car in reverse if there's nothing behind me. Any ideas how to fix this?

Sounds right If you have a reversing camera it actually looks downward so could be the ground doing it.

EG my car when I backed into the garage it would give the solid noise when the line hit the junction of the floor and the wall, not 300mm from the wall

You should hear a short beep when selecting reverse. This is a test tone, you know the system is working, no initial beep means you are going to crash.

I don’t have a reversing camera, and it keeps beeping after the initial system check beep. I checked the sensors on the bumper and none of them are pointing down

It seems to be working properly now it’s raining, and the sensors are wet. Weird
