Stereo information???

Haven't picked it up yet but can anyone give me some details on the stereo system or places that I can find it. Does it play mp3?

No, they won't play MP3s. Good system tho with 10 speakers. The GTI comes with a 6 stacker built into the dash unit.

Can't find anything on mp3 compatability but can't imagine it being unavailable in this era. Can't even find the make!

I agree with the journo. The stereo is great and uncomplicated to use. I have come from a Peugeot 307 where the stereo used to buzz and distort at very low volume. The Golf is way better ....

The stereo in the Comfortline diesel is a "RCD 300". MP3s cannot be played and according to the book nor can CD-Rs or CD-RWs (actually it says, "You might not be able to play....")

No MP3's

RCD 500 (the 6 stacker, also in GTI) pretty reasonable sound for in-car / stock. All controls / menu's / settings really logical (like everything in the car really, if not more so). Especially good is the front door speaker arrangement (6 of the 10) with 3-way crossover.
