Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Audi R8 Ignition Coil Packs. can someone who uses them give some feedback.

    Thanks

I have them in my 2.0 FSI, only running them because my original coils went bad and got them for free (used) off another forum member. No problems to report, I don't think there is any real benefit other than lower cost and aesthetics on a stock car. Maybe if you were highly modified you might see some gains but I would not be putting them in with the intention of getting any sort of power gains over properly functioning stock coils.

The main reason to put these in is to prevent premature failure of the stock coils which are prone to fail when tuned.

The R8 coils provide a stronger spark which will still operate under boost.

          Thanks
They’re exactly the same as stock ones, the spark is the same. I had them on scope and even tested them side by side with the few different ignition coil testers and there’s absolutely no difference at all.
Only difference is colour and price. I guess they still fail at the same rate, only no one complains since they cost the same as spark plugs.
