Any car can use runflats, but why anyone would is still beyond me. Lots of tire noise, average handling, and ridiculous prices RE: $500 for a 15!!! A large price to pay for 80km's at 80kmph after a puncture...

Why exactly do you need a single runflat?

Sorry, i actually needed two tyres. My front two tyres are gone, bad alignment, but the two rear tyres are still very very good. Want to look for some nice used RE050A and put them at the back and use the two rear one for the front until they gone they i change a new set of tyres.
Managed to find two used good condition RE050 Run flat tyre at reasonable price, so just wondering if my car can use them.

I have read from Bridgestone website, they said it is not recommended to use to run flat and two non run flat tyres. What do u guys think?
It also stated that to use run flat tyre, the car must have tyre pressure sensor. So i am confused if i should buy them.

      Please advise

      Cheers

if they are circa $500 each, then it would be cheaper to go buy 4 new standard tyres.

and as golf houso has suggested, why would you want run-flats? The local motoring press have bagged the hell out of them

as mentioned, i can get them for less than $500. I just want something to use for time being as they will only use at the back. I will use the OEM RE050A for the front, until they are neraly finish, i will change to a new set, but for now, i just don't want to spend too much money.
So i can use them can i? Has anyone installed run flat to their car?

          Cheers

I wouldn't bother, get some cheaper standard tyres, they will perform better then the run flats.

Why do you keep asking if you already know the answer to the question?

If a few people sitting at their computer say yes are you going to run out and buy something that may potentially upset the handling and safety of the car?

I read on a mini forum that they were 580 each from a dealer for a 195/65/R15 , but then again thats from a 'stealer'. As mentioned before get some cheaper non run flat tires which will most likely perform dramatically better than the runflats. Read any review on a newish M BMW and see how often the criticism of the runflats appear, ruining an almost perfect car...

I will add to the chorus of "why would you bother with run-flats, when expert advice says not to"

Why do you have a Jetta turbo when you can't afford the rubber, and why did you let the bad alignment go so long that the tyres are completely stuffed before you take panic action?

ok. final decision, no run flat tyres.
My tyres stuffed because i do not have time to go and do proper alignment (work 6 days a week, damn) now, have to spend so much more money than a wheel alignment fees.
Thanks for your helps, i will go look for something else.

                  Cheers

Maybe it's a good wakeup call to maintain your tyres, maintain tyre pressure and check them regularly. Not only will it save you money but it may save something else.

yes, you are right. when i sold my car last time when it only has 30000km, it still has its original conti sport contact 2 on and still have plenty of life left.
Maybe its time to think of changing job,

BTW, i have bought two Dunlop SP Sport Maxx (great price, still has at least 80% tread) for my car for the time being. Wait till the tyres are nearly finish, i will then change to a new set of tyres.

                        Thanks again guys.

                          Mmmmm...Toss up the options...
A)Take time out of mu busy week and ask a friend/workmate if I can borrow their car for a maximum of an hour and pay a small fee to get my wheels properly aligned to save some money and have a safe vehicle...
B)Rotate my tyres to help them where evenly until the wheel alignment is carried out.
C)Run my car and compromise the handling/safety of the vehicle. Let the tyres wear to a point that they become unroadworthy, then spend way more cash that is necessary to buy 2 new tyres and get the front wheels aligned anyway when you get them.

I'm fully aware that I don't know your time constraints, but on issues that concern road worthiness(especially on a near new car where the issue may be a warrantable item and a courtesy car is available), there really are bugger all excuses.
"If can't get behind your troops, feel free to stand in front of them..."

Haha Blitzen thats unfair, perhaps hhlau2's philanthropic nature kicked in and he likes paying those underfed tyre retailers.

Did you ever think of that?
