  • Awesome oiler has to go...

It is with some degree of sadness that I announce that I'm selling my brilliant GT Sport TDi. Basically, when I bought the car, I didn't have a mortgage or a baby - now I have both, and my bank balance is starting to look very sad indeed!

It's been great fun customising it and getting it to look, handle and go as I wanted it to, and now I have to sell it! It's not all bad though, as I'm buying back my previous love (modified black XR5), because my mate who bought it no longer wishes to pay $650 a month for a parking bay (he lives in the CBD)! The changeover should give me enough cash to have some breathing space for a while, and I'll still be driving a very nice hatch.

It's been a great forum to be part of - keep up the good work guys!

That is a shame. Im sorry to hear your news.
When you get the XR5 back dont spend any money on it, just drive it and maintain it.
Like you said, at least you will still have a hot hatch.
Just our of interest what will the XR5 cost in fuel per week vs the GT Sport

The good thing is I don't need to spend any money on it - I did that the last time I owned it! Although I will certainly look at aftermarket cruise because I can't live without it now. It's an awesome machine, and being able to get it back has really softened the blow of having to part with the GT.

Based on the amount of km I do, at current fuel prices, the XR5 will only cost me $12 a week more to run.

Like Logz said, sad to hear. Then again I appreciate the need to live somewhere, and my home would always come first at the same junction you're facing. There's always another day to buy new cars my friend.

Especially sorry to see someone who got OUT of a Ford have to go back.
Then again it's a Euro Ford, so that's very differnet over a Falcadore.

        Can I buy your sunroof?

As good as the VW has been, if I'm honest about it, I'm still a Ford man through and through, so I'm happy to be going back to the Blue Oval. It's probably because I'm a WRC fanatic, and an avid supporter of the BP Ford World Rally Team (I'm almost over what happened in NZ on the weekend ). And yeah, the XR5 is pretty well put together anyway.

I'd give you the sunroof, but I reckon the hole it leaves might be a bit hard to patch up.

Good luck with it all mate, its a well sorted GT and its a steal at that money.

I had plenty of enquiry on mine at similar $ so it won't be long til your parting with it.
              Cheers,

Sad to see mate. That's a seriously hot oiler you have. Even the rear lights suit it and I'm not normally a fan of aftermarket lighting. Looks tops.

There seems to be a number of Ford converts/fans floating around these Vee Dub forums (myself one of them - don't hold it against me guys!). The XR5 gets a great rap the world over, I just don't think Ford Oz pushed them enough and most of our fellow Australians still want a big boat to drive like a Commodore/Falcon.
