Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Best performance upgrade?

Fellow GTI owners. I am thinking of the best performance upgrade for my Mk5 GTI, in the lines of a ECU flash upgrade ( I think thats what it is called). Are there any recommendations eg APR, REVO etc.
Has anyone done this and is it really worth the money?
Sorry if this thread has been posted before.

Hi, you are right a reflash is the way to go.

It has been done to death on here and every other forum on the net.

Everyone has an opinion. All you can do is research and if possible try out. Revo and APR do trials. I offer a refund if you are not happy, other turners have similar options.

There is a finite amount of power in an engine but with the electronics in the management system, the way the power comes in can be tailored in many ways.

    Best of luck

    Gavin

      Many many options.
      All give similar result.
      Big variations in prices.
Some allow you to flash back to standard with a handheld device.
Some include more than one map in the pricing.

ChippedUK ST3, Bluefin, REVO, GIAC, Ottiengier, APR.

      Read, read, read.
Google "ChippedUK ST3" and the others, theres heaps of reviews in alot of different forums.

Upgrading your suspension is a 'better' performance upgrade IMO.
