Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • New Fogs

    Hi guys,

Hopefully someone can assist with a tech type question. Have been planning on retrofitting fogs to the Jetta and just received the new projector fogs and grilles in the post.

Question is, which harness do I go for? Preference is to run the lights via the CECM but have read that I'll need to have the highline type and access to VAGCOM. Any help would be appreciated.

Hey, how much did that all cost you?

I wouldn't mid fitting fogs to my Golf.

Grilles will be different for the golf but just for the fogs, the grilles and the switch(because it also needs to be replaced) I've laid out around $A200 dropped at my door. Ya gotta love eBay!

Can send you the seller's details and they can be landed at your door for a "steal" but I wanna keep mine! Provided I can get someone to help me with the original post!)

            yes please

to help you with the original post; you can buy wiring harnesses and headlight switches with the foglight attachment from various places including www.tmtuning.com and www.oempl.us but tbh i'd be trying german ebay first..

              PM sent.

Have been looking on the Euro eBays as well as TMTuning, OEMPLUS and ECS Tuning. But still not sure which harness to go for. Via CECM will give me indication if a globe blows and that warm and fuzzy "from the factory" feel. Any suggestions from any one?

Found a very helpful set of instructions last night while surfing the 'net. Can't remember which site but had the pendrive handy(So dropped it down). Maybe we can catch when the harness is in and see how we go? BTW thanks for the offer.

**UPDATE** Found the vag pdf source for those who are interested. For Mk5s only I think....sorry to all others!

Well, i decided to put to put together a little guide for the Vag-Com. It's only a first draft, so let me know what you think! They're in Word, but i can put them in PDF if anyone prefers it that way. ok, so i revised it into 1 pdf, and added links inside, for easier reading. Edit: docs...

Guys, Tim's VAGCOM cable has been "borrowed"for an extended time by another forum member who can't be contacted (thanks for the offer anyway big fella!) and I'm really itching to get these fogs up and running. (Yes I know they've been in for a few months now, but I've been playing with other things in the meantime. Boost Gauge, TAI, etc

Is there anybody else who has the cable and might be willing for me to come over to their house and play?
                        I promise I'll behave.......mostly.
