Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

    Bugger!

I didn't want the satnav. Do you think the service centre will be able to put one in next service. I'd happily pay for it. Or is the only way they will do this for a Jetta is by getting the satnav?

Thanks for taking to answer the previous post for me it is appreciated.

You can easily retrofit the audio input on the oem headunits, glovebox would be the easiest place to install it. You can buy the kits from aftermarket suppliers as well or go for the new MDI interface that offers USB, IPOD and 3.5mm audio.

Yeah, I'm currently looking at either the Connects2 or the Denison kits as a retrofit option on my Jetta. It's just that the 3.5mm aux-input jack doens't seem to come fitted as standard on a Jetta unless you order satnav (according to the specs). I didn't get one with my Jetta TDI with the regular stereo.
