Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Definately not in the box but there is a rubber plug where its supposed to be so i guess its just a matter of them running the cable.

Its wierd its like they just pick a few cars and chuck them in, all the cars i test drove and sat in the car yard had them. When i spoke to dealers its like "yeah of course we do as if you can sell a car these days without them" alas my surprise when i get home and go to plug the ipod in. It's not like i wanted it for free if he had said its not std i would have simply added it as an option as i love audiobooks and podcasts so its a must have!

saved from the VW Australia Website

The Golf GTI takes a lead from its predecessor and combines space, styling, technology and character to create an irresistible driving environment. From the brushed aluminium highlights throughout the interior, gear knob, sill scuff plates, inserts in dashboard and doors, standard aux-in interface for connecting a mobile audio player - to the unique sports seats and signature leather, three-spoke steering wheel, the GTI is attitude all over

Sixfootchoc, book it in with your dealer!

Just called the dealer. They're 'looking into it'. The manual calls this connector 'optional'. Which contradicts the website...We'll see how it goes.

Can anyone confirm that their dealer has retro-fitted the connector free of charge? If you're in WA that'd be even better.

                  Cheers

Yep Sixfoot they are doing mine on Thursday morning. Salesman confirmed it is in fact standard, look at the website. This may have been missed in the manual, not sure if they updated it for the MY08.

I have an 08 Turbo Petrol Jetta

Tried to find it on the weekend, but no luck. Do they only put these on the Golfs? Would be really handy!

It seems from the Jetta spec sheet from VW Australia that the auxilliary audio input in the centre console is only fitted when the RNS510 satnav system is fitted.

                            OK

Got the GTI, got the earphone jack, plugged in the MP3 player, and no noise. I can't work out how to get the stereo to take the signal from the MP3 jack.

                            Any advice

Maybe I am too dumb to own one of these cars.

Just found the answer to my own question - thank god for Google - it makes the dumb seem not so dumb

Finally, press the CD button once so it goes into CD mode, then press the CD button again to go into aux input mode.
