I also got RE001's Very happy with them. Have improved the grip tremendously and the braking performance is simply incredible in the dry.

As a matter a fact, I have found that I don't really want to exploit the levels of grip on a public road.

hehe, does that mean on public roads, you'd rather run up somebody's rear end?

This is the main downside of a diesel. The torque is much harder on the tyres.

At 4000 mine looked like someone was cutting the centre channel off with a knife

yar. i'm on bridgestone adrenalins. they're the bottom of the pile potenzas but they're great. compared to...the ns-2s.... i haven't hammered the car much yet but when it was up and about, soooo much grip. quite quiet too, or maybe it was just the mk2 that was ridiculously noisy...

i had Pirelli Dragons on the greeny and they were fantastic!!!!
gripped like absolutely nothing and lasted about 20,000kms before the fronts wore out, the backs are now on the front and still going strong and for those who know how i drive.... thats no mean feat!!!

when i get new wheels, ill be getting Pirelli's again

however i have noticed the the tyre wear on the diesel has significatly increased since i have taken it over

I am considering these to replace my Kuhmo Ecstas SPTs on my A3. With the std turbo I got 18 months out of the fronts before switching them to the back, probably about 20000ks. I did this at the same time as fitting the new turbo in January, the fronts are now pretty close to wear bars.

Sometimes you just can't help yourself...... Is being 40 a defence against the Hoon legislation?

I think I'll be needing a set before going to Melb for the DOVW.

I have had Federal 595RS Semi Slicks on my Polo for 10,000km now, and they have warn twice as well ad the Conti SC2's I had on before hand. They have hardly worn at all!!

                              Donellons (?spelling).

Dont be shy, it took a bit of arguing with them to get that price. hehehe
I know for a fact that cost for them is about $150 each...

                              Good luck.

Mmmmmm don't keep us in suspense, I have no idea where they are could you enlighten us?

I'm looking for tyres at moment to replace the original Bridgestone Potenza RE050 (225/45/R17). The Bridgestones have been excellent, good road holding, not excessively noisy and have done 47,000 KM with a bit of life in them but I'll replace them now.

I have no idea what to fit, when I rang Bridgestone a few weeks ago they said there was no stock of RE050 available, they suggested ER300 at $252.00 each, closest to RE050 they had were RE050A (assymetric) at $369.00 each...pretty exxy I reckon. Looking at the Bridgestone website, ER300 are listed as "premium touring", RE050 and Adrenalin (RE001) are listed as "premium performance". Seems a big price difference to spj's price (although of course we are talking 17" x 45 profile not 16" x 50).

Anybody have first hand experience of RE001 Vs RE030 or any suggestions?

                                Cheers
