Largest size tyre running on standard 15" wheel

Just got asked a question about what the maximum size tyre your able to run on the standard 15" wheel off a 2.0 TDI Mk V.

So, what size tyre did you use as a replacement?

What width is the standard rim & what size is the standard tyre?

I think it's a 6.5" wide rime with 195's as standard.

195/65x15?

215/60x15 will fit nicely.

If it was me I'd scan the forums & eBay for some 16" or 17" alloys with reasonable tyres - will probably cost about the same as new tyres

you could fit a lot of stuff on there but for what gain? i mean jayjay has 195's on 5.5" lol... from what angle are you askin?

I am still umming & arring about 16s for our yet to be delivered 1.9TDI. I know Goodyear make a sporty tread 195/65X15.

I'm not sure that the 16s will actually make (an extra) $2000 worth of difference.
