Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

well filled up on the way home this arvo.
travelled 530k's from last fill. put 43.88 litres into the tank.
that comes to 8.28 L/100k's. mixture of freeway and stop/start driving.

All I can add, is when I put mty stock TDI against Jaymz superchipped one, my air fuel line was all over the shop, whereas his was FAR smoother, kinda like mine goes in and out of "good" air/fuel ratio a fair bit over the rev range, and his chipped car was much more spot on. In my mind that's where you may get better use of your fuel, but as others have eluded to, more likely to use it!

As already mentioned. More power means to do the exact same task, you need less of it. So thats where the fuel savings are. But you are never going to pay back the cost of the chip. If LPG takes 2 years, and thats half the cost of petrol... Its the exact same reason you get a big amp, so it doesnt have to really work hard.

Another factor in fuel economy is pumping loss. Go check it.

And CogDoc, more an out of interest question rather than statement. Was that afr just at WOT or didnt matter? Just better all over?
