Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Cracked indicator

    Hi all,

My partner managed to reverse into a pole while parking a car (in an admittedly tight carpark). The thing that got damaged was the front left indicator (on the side mirror). The white/clear plastic (that flashes) was damaged.

The indicator itself still works and the mirror is undamaged.

Does anyone have an idea whether you can just replace that piece of plastic or will that involve a complete replacement of the mirror?

Has anyone had to have a mirror replaced before and have an idea as to what they cost (I understand they are quite expensive)

the clear indicator is replaceable. I have a set of inpro smoked ones on my car so I have a spare set of stock ones if you need them.
It is a bit of an involved job to replace it though. the whole mirror outer casing needs to be removed. Not difficult once you know how.

Hey, that'd be great. How much do you want for them?

I imagine there are a set of instructions on the net to replace.

On that topic, I wonder if I should get different ones?

Id be happy with $50 for the pair of virtually brand new ones that I have. I can probably help you out with some instructions in PDF format if you like.

If youre interested in the inpro smoked ones then theyre available on the Dub Addiction website for $69.95

Thanks for all your help! I'm going to buy a pair of the smoked ones (I have a black Golf Comfortline so I think they'll look good).

Again, thanks ... sorry I didn't buy yours but your tips were great
