Mate, ring up your dealer and find out whats going on with it. After reading this thread yesterday, I rang the dealer I bought my car off(I got my Polo on the 4 Jan 2008 ), because I hadn't received my welcome pack from VWA. I was told to ring the VW Assist number, and when I quoted my rego and VIN to them, I was told I wasn't on their system. It turns out the dealer hadn't sent my details to VWA, and as such, I wasn't covered by the Roadside Assist network(the operator told me this). I then rang the dealer back up, told them this, gave her the person I purchased the car through, the original rego, VIN and contact details, and that it should be sorted out. I have had nothing but drama's with this dealer though, so it dosn't surprise me that this would happen. Get on to it when you can and get it sorted out.

What is in the Welcome Pack ?

I finally got my card (although they had the wrong name and address on it)

I was also told a survey is sent out to new owners - never seen it

I requested a new card and an extra one for my wife - 6 weeks ago

i got a survey not long after getting my car. 12 months on ive never received any roadside assist card though. Whats the purpose of the card really? I have the phone number written on my windscreen. Surely you wouldnt need to produce said card when youre in strife.

I'm just going by what VW Roadside Assist told me. Because my rego or VIN wasn't supplied to VWA by the dealer, and then onto VW Roadside Assist, I wasn't covered by Roadside Assist. In my opinion, the way this works is a joke. On my previous car(A Holden), I got my Roadside Assist card within 3 weeks, and I was covered while I was waiting for my card, and I received recall notices to my new addresses, even after not notifying Holden of my change of address details.

I removed the windscreen sticker when I first got the car - hate stickers on my windscreen

I prefer to have the cards

Id like to see VW roadside assist try and reject me if my july 07 built GTI breaks down!

It took me ages (3 or so months) to get my card but it wasn't the dealers fault. Plus, I received the survey really quickly.

(I know it wasn't the dealers fault because I had a number of calls from VW Assist back and forth to confirm it was on its way.)
