  • SOMEONE Stole it!!

Today when i checked the tyre pressure i noticed on my left back weehl of my mk4 golf sport someone stole the vw cap!!!!

I wanna know is it easy to steal or easy to fall off??

Im pretty sure it wouldnt have fallen off as lately ive been parking in fairfield and we know what sorta people live there..but my theory is someone at uni stole it since alot of p platers now have mk4 golfs.

Any help? How much does it cost to replace one eg:going to denlo at parra ?
or is it possible someone could easily steel it etc?

I lost mine about a month after I picked up the R. When I ordered a new one from the dealer they said that it'd been happening a lot lately and he reckoned people were stealing them.
I think mine fell out when I hit a fairly decent bump at a reasonable speed though. $20 for a single replacement cap from memory.

I have 1 missing also. They fall off pretty easy, I think they only used crap glue on them. You can get them pretty cheap off flea bay.

Mine doesn't glue in. It has little clip edges around it and you really have to apply a reasonably amount of effort to get it to go in. Still don't know how it fell out but I couldn't think of when anyone would've had a chance to steal it since I'd last cleaned the wheels. I think that there would be a decent gouge in the rims as well to get them out.

Haha hooo hahahah oh dear, the wonders of living in Fairfield! ...
I'm sorry to hear about this, when I got my wheels about a year ago my blinging chrome wheel caps were gone in 2 days. May I recommend removing the other three wheel caps and not washing your car at all during your stay in Fairfield as not to draw attention to your car .

I honestly wouldn't be surprised that it just came off during the drive, having said that I have seen a number of cars with side markers removed and or number plate protectors pillaged from many a car in my wonderful suburb.

May I ask where your parking the car? I may be able to provide you with a safer alternative parking spot for your vehicle...

                      VW Center Caps are ****..

The way they are designed isnt that great as the plastic isnt strong enough to maintain the outward pressure thats supposed to keep them clipped in

                      especially after they get heated

I had to start removing my Center caps prior to hitting the Track on Track Days as they would basically become plyable under the excessive braking heat and fall out..

                      Oh GOODIE!

i parked off the street off smart street...it leads to the horsley drive. dunno the name

I guess it could have fallen off but ive had the car for a year now and nothing like this has happened and ive started working in farifield since last month so thats my theory.

Nothing against fairfield i dont live far by but lets be honest it isnt the nicest place to park a good car.

Can i get the replacment at denlo in parramatta? ill just dorp by before uni.

LOL fairfield - i used to park at yennora whilst i was at uni. I had a crappy hyudai excel that i wanted to get stolen. I used to leave it unlocked with the windows open, but alas, it never got stolen

Obviously the thieves in fairfield have some taste for european class...
