  • Vibration while accelerating hard

Ahoy boys, I'm back with another problem.

If I am just driving around normally, I don't notice anything.

If I decide to accelerate mid to hard, I experience a wild vibration. It feels terrible.

I have also noticed that upon starting the car it sounds like there is excess movement from something.

    Ideas?

I was thinking this aswell as a possibility, but I have had the mounts replaced about 2 years ago with meyle branded ones.
I guess they could fail early?

          Straight line vibration? Or turning?

FWD, 4motion, what are we dealing with?

Yes straight line, I haven't tried turning while accelerating hard.

What's the prelude to diff failure?

Perhaps check for excessive play in the driveshafts. Hold the CV, and try to twist the shaft. If there's heaps of movement, that could be where the issue lies.

Does it happen when stationary at idle? Or just when driving? Any vibration thru the steering wheel?

                  Please no to diff failure..

Do I hold the Inner or outer cv? Or does it not matter..

Nothing at idle, slight vibration through steering wheel but more than likely from uprated dogbone mount bushing. This light vibration feels the same as it has four years.

Yeah, I wouldn't wish diff failure upon anyone. It's not pretty...

Worth checking both. You're checking for movement in the CV, in relation to the shaft, so yeah hold both CVs one at a time, while trying to twist the shaft.

Just reporting back on this. I had the car on the hoist yesterday and the mechanic and i identifed that the exhaust was about to fall off.

The 3" dump was secured to the turbo, but where the 3" reducer joins to the stock exhaust, the clamp was not securing the rest of the system tightly.

The reducer clamp was tightened to its limits but the rest of the system was just freely moving around!! I am going to an exhaust shop to have it welded up.

This will be a great result, and it should stop my exhaust fume problem aswell.

Shout out to VA garage at Southport on the Gold Coast.
