My Bad, I thought the diff oil and haldex were one and the same

At around 130,00k's my Bora 4 Mo started making some quite alarming noises at the rear when it was hot and you were doing U turns etc. It was ok driving in a straight line except for a bit of a whine at highway speeds. At first I was worried about it being the Haldex unit but after changing the fluid and filter and 2 visits to the local VW stealer to locate the problem we decided to change the oil in the diff.

The oil change has cured the diff of all noises, whines etc. The service manager who I have known for around 40 years told me that there he was not aware of any VW service advice about changing the oil in the diff. He also told me that changing the diff oil is not in the service schedule.

My car has now done 155,000k's with no diff noises. Therefore I would recommend that you change the diff oil however as to you original question I'm sorry I can't help with the specification of the oil to use.

Sorry a boringly long post with little help.
