  • Anti Lift Kit on Bora 4Motion

    Hi All,

Has anybody driven a Bora 4Mo with an ALK?

My Bora understeers terribly, I was thinking I needed a bigger rear sway bar but now I'm wondering if I can improve it with a Anti Lift Kit.

    Anybody have experience ?

    Thanks all,

    Christian

Anti lift kit is fancy marketing language for front control arm poly bushings - you know that right?

IME, all mk3-4-5 benefit from poly bushings for the front control arms.

However, the problem you are trying to remedy could be caused by 100 things... you might need ot be more analytic about the problem solving process.

Well, its most well known for the name 'anti lift kit'.

Considering the price, I just see it as a cheap option that may help. That said, I dont think I can DIY the install.

All the 4mo's with vr6 understeer from the weight.A sports haldex controller removed heaps on my G4 R32. Yes sway bars do make a differenc on the VR6's aswell.

The Haldex controller is just a bit out of my price range.

Have you experienced this? It looks kinda promising but the description doesn't mention understeer at all.

These just screw into your haldex and give you permanent AWD?

Same effect as haldex controller. Just more permanent.

I was just researching Haldex Controllers... I thought HPA were the ones only offering it for MK4. Nice find Hayden, now get back to that R32

Prank, I've got the same problem.. Horrible understeer. Whiteline have discontinued the rear sways. H&R or Eibach seem to be the go.

They are just so expensive those brands. I'm keen to try this haldex thingo but worried about side effects.

That thread further feeds my scepticism. I might go rear sway first.

Agreed. I did have some concern regarding the internal clutch pack, the whole thing just sounded a little too good to be true.

I did however find the below which sounds good.

I wouldn't buy any after market kit until the existing suspension components have been checked and any worn bushes/joints replaced, followed by a wheel alignment. At the same time check your tyres, incorrect pressures, cheapo tyres etc, can make a huge difference to handling. Also, are you sure your rear end is working? Can you spin the front wheels?

My Bora 4mo is now running std R32 suspension (shocks and springs), R32 front lower rear control arm bushes (solid v the very flexible std 4mo ones) and a euro spec rear R32 sway bar, R32 Mags with Michelin Pilot Sport 3's.
