Hello all!
I have recently purchased a green MkIV golf, it's only a 1.6ltr model with the "Rally" pack, mainly due to the extra cash I couldn't stump up for a GTi!!
Anyway, I have some ideas for freddo (coz it's green!), centering around the interior 1st, the suspension, engine etc.....
1st of all, freddo has that nice cream interior. Looks great when clean, touch it once and it's filthy!! My biggest qualm is the carpets are the same colour, so i want to get some black floor mats as i'm planning on doing a 2 tone interior. The carpet even has the original mounting lugs for the mats, but some tight ar*e took them out!! I've tried wreckers but they generally don't have any as the cars sit out in the rain with smashed windows, hence the floor mats get ruined!
2nd, what i am planning on doing is changing the fabric inserts of the door cards, along with the handles, to black. I have removed the rubberised coating on the passenger side handle as it was pretty rooted, only to find the 2 halves of it are different coloured plastics!!! ARGH!!!!! anyway, the wreckers want $110 per insert with handle for each door when I can get the whole door car at another wreckers for that much so I was wondering if anyone has used VHT dye to "paint" their plastics, and has it been successful?
3rd, any suggestions on how to make the golf go better? I know it is only a 1.6, but has anyone been able to get more fun outta them? suspension setups would be the most effective i guess, but is there any power upgrades i could do?
Thanks guys.
Gav
