It's a whole lot easier than that ... just have a look at the Members List at the top of the page.

Well they brought this system in afew years ago where you have 'stages' of your provisional licence.

Firstly, you get your 'L's', you have them for a year, then you do a driving test to get your 'Red P's' and along with that some freedom from your parents, then after another year, you go and do a computer bases hazard perception test to obtain the 'Green P's'. Then its another TWO years and you go back and do a computer based test on road rules etc to get the full licence. The difference between Red and Green p's is that on your Red p's your are restricted to 90km/h and you only have 4 points, and you are on them for a year. Where as on your green p's you are restricted to 100km/h and have 7 points, and you are on them for 2 years. Then its just your full licence, which i will be getting in 2 weeks!!! FINALLY!

this is off the vicroads website....

"The new probationary licence requirements will apply to all probationary licence holders who obtain their licence on or after 1 July 2008. These include a two stage/four year probationary licence system:

P1 (red plate) for one year; and
P2 (green plate) for three years.

A number of new probationary licence restrictions will also be introduced, with extra restrictions for P1 licence holders."

sorry to get off topic slightly but also found this restriction for red p platers...
"From 1 July 2008, a probationary (P1) driver will not be allowed to carry more than one peer passenger when driving. The penalties for committing this offence will be three demerit points and a fine equal to three penalty units.

A peer passenger is any person aged between 16 and 21, but does not include the driver's spouse, domestic partner, sibling or step - sibling.

This regulation does not apply to a probationary (P1) driver who is -

a member of the police force and is driving a motor vehicle in the course of his or her duties, or
driving an emergency vehicle in the course of his or her employment or duties, or in accordance with any terms of a contract or any engagement, or
driving in an emergency providing emergency transport to hospital, or has an experienced driver sitting beside him or her.

No exemption is required from VicRoads when a probationary (P1) driver is driving a vehicle in the above circumstances"

Well they may be the VicRoads regulations for P platers, the Queensland Transport rules are very similar but differ slightly.
Like Victoria, Red P platers are restricted in the following ways:
-No peer passengers between 11pm and 5am.
                      -Vehicle power restrictions:
                      No vehicle over 200kw
No turbo or supercharged engines (other than turbo engines)
                      No V8s or more
No rotary engine more than 1.3.
                      -No mobile phone. AT ALL!
                      And you get 4 points.

                      Green P Platers:
All of the above but the stupid mobile phone rule and the peer passenger rules are exempt.

And NO! We AREN'T restricted to certain speed limits! What's in the red ring, we go.

Oh and on a Bora related note, the Transport Department are convinced that my V5 Bora is turbo charged, i've been pulled over twice and questioned once while in a car park! Mighty sick of that happening.

                          Heh...
As you've said before Dave, I'm not gonna bother posting my details because if you look to the top right of my posts and then have a look at my signature then I think people will be able to put 3 & 2 together to get 8 multiplied by 4.

us older guys had it easy. In 1987, I had just finished my 1 year on P's ready to go onto the last 2 year of probabtionary licence(without displaying P's) and they changed the rules in Victoria...thus I went straight onto a full licence after 12months !!!
