  • Bora V6 4mo - Interior Trim Swap

    Hello All,

Long time lurker, first time threader...

I'm considering swapping the trim out of my Bora 4mo. it's currently grey leather with woodgrain.

Although the grey leather is in great knick and very practical (doesn't show up scuffs dirt) the current combo is just not working for me. Instead of thinking sexy, I think grandpa...

So.... I picked up this bad boy through work for a donor / part out etc...

Here's my question. Has anyone swapped out these trims? Any pitfalls? Or is there any other VAG vehicles where the trims are the same? Audi A3 / A4 perhaps??

Best thing I did was buy OEM black trim from eBay. Replaced all woodgrain with black (except the gear knob, but it can stay cause it's a 4MOTION one.) Made a world of difference and super easy.

hey prank, how do you find the quality of the eBay parts? Were they OEM or A/M?

They were genuine. I got them from O/S so the price wasn't inhibitive. I dont think I spent over 100 for all; front & rear door handles, ash tray cover, cup holder cover, etc.

The only thing I can't find is the two strips that go up each side of the stereo. I just sanded mine back and painted them. Works ok until I find some. Better than ****ty woodgrain.

That donor is good! Are you going to part it out? I wouldn't mind some bits.

Looks like it has an aftermarket front bar and exhaust?

thanks mate, I'll search around o/s for the bits. RE: Centre Console Trim - have you looked at these?

RE: Donor vehicle, yes it'll be parted out when it arrives in Sydney. Front / Rear bar are factory but fitted with Oettinger valances and side skirts. Exhaust is a BillyBoat Exhaust (BBE) from the US. Apparently a good exhaust but a goofy name.

I'll do a separate thread later for parting it out but feel free to pm me with what you're after.

Yeah I can never find matte black ones. Thanks for the link though.

When will the car be in Sydney?

Not sure to be honest mate. I've got a friend bringing it up from Wagga, don't want to push him his doing it for a case
Gotta the love the beer economy... In all seriousness I'm expecting it here within the next 2 weeks.

I'll keep an eye out for matte black console trim for you through work. You could always just vinyl wrap it....

                      Beer economy is good.

The painted bits are working fine, I could vinyl them and may still do that.

My trim has been in for ~40,000k's and its good. It suffers from the same problem as all our trim, it gets a little softer and then marks if you bump it with something hard (like scratches it). The worst of them is the bit covering the OBD2 port because it wont stay on, so it has become a little scuffed. I'll take some pics and show you.

thanks mate would appreciate it. I've owned a V5 with beige trim, some +220,000kms and although it held up well (compared to my Sportivo and Accord Euro) it did discolour and looked dirty. The grey is good, clean, practical but with the woodgrain horrible.

I'm thinking of swapping the black trim's in but it's a big job. Seats, dash panels, pillar trims etc.. The whole bit.
