Transporter may be able to help you, but you may be in solder in chip territory. Do you have drive by wire or a throttle cable?

All Australian deleivered MK4s are cable throttle. Only the face lift A3s got a DBW system.

I can do MK4 GTIs without soldering chips. I do come to Adelaide but it's going to be September before I come again.

I have bench leads to do these, so if you just want stage 1 you can post the ECU to me. I have a loan ECU to keep you running if you need your car daily.

Turn around is 3 days. You post Monday, I receive, flash and post tuesday, back in the car wednesday.

        $749

        Cheers

                  Hey Guys,

I have a K03s (K03-052) turbo to replace the K03 on my AGU engine MK4 GTI. The car already has an APR Stage 1 Tune but the turbo has damaged compressor blades so it whines and doesn't produce much boost. Other than that the car has full 3" exhaust, cold air intake, silicon TIP and upgraded DV.

I want to sell the car ASAP but dont wanna get low balled by someone calling out the turbo whine so I purchased the K03s thinking it was a bolt on for the K03 and maybe it would even get more power

But now i'm reading that it would need a remap otherwise it may not run right or run too lean at the top end

Is this correct? If so can anyone do a K03s tune in Adelaide and what would the cost be

Im probably better off ebaying my K03s and buying a K03!

                  Cheers, Mike

I am not aware of anyone in Adelaide doing a K03s tune for the MK4 and a problem you'll most likely have is that APR will have soldered in an encryption board making you ecu essentially untunable. To confirm this though, you should take the ECU out and take the cover off. Post a picture and I'll confirm.

The K03s will be pretty twitchy on the k03 tune.

$849 for the K03s tune of you can go that route. I can do this on the bench if you post the ecu to QLD.

                      Thanks mate

Unfortunately it looks like the numbers do not add up favorably for the route I have taken. I have paid $300 for a used K03s, ~$50 for the various gaskets, crush washers etc, $50 for a silicon TIP... adding to that the tune would amount to a $1250 job. I could have purchased a used K03 that would have been good to fit for ~$300-400.

I've spoken to APR and they say that the car should be okay on their Stage 1 tune with the K03s turbo - there won't be much performance increase but they do not say that it would possibly be terminal for the engine (i.e. running lean, etc)

You would most likely need and ECU as well, due to APRs encryption board. You could sell the APR ecu though and get some money back for that.

You would make a lot more power with a proper tune on the K03s, 210 or more to the 190hp off the K03.
