Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • Info on some suspension parts

Hey everyone, I went to the wreckers today and bought a few things of a mk4 gti they had there.

Just wondering if anyone knows any more details about the stuff we got today.
I know the coilovers are KW, but is there a way to tell if they're v1 or v2?
Also got the front and rear sway bars along with the strut brace, which will need holes drilled.
Can't seem to find anything on the Oettinger stuff though.

    Thanks

V2 are top adjustable, no adjustment means they are V1.

A good days picking there mate!

        Thanks h100vw for the info
Well I tried looking the oettinger stuff up on their website and can't seem to find any strut or sway bars for any mk4 golfs, they dont l;ist suspension parts. Just wondering if they-re genuine etc. I can't seem to find any place that lists their products. Or a parts catalogue of theirs. Cheers

Iv got an old parts list of oettinger stuff.
Back in' 08 when I got it I was told most of the parts were no longer sold, so probably why you can't find much now 8 years on

Thanks Dylan8, Thats more than likely why. Just realised there is an oettinger Australia website, but its down for maintenance at the moment. Still sort of new to the whole euro scene. Not to sure on what brands etc are good. But the build quality looked really good so I bought it anyway haha. Thanks

MK4s have been out of production 12 years, I dont expect you'll find much at all online.

That Aussie Oettinger will be out for ages I reckon. I believe it was part of the APR empire that is no longer run by Guy Harding.

You picked up some rare and useful stuff I'd leave it at that.

Nice finds! Do you have a picture of the car you got the stuff from at the wreckers? If you do that could help figure out whether it was someone from this forum back in the day.
