  • Are Bora 4Mo wheel hubs & bearings the same as an R32?

    As the title would suggest...

I need to replace the front left wheel bearing and from my research, it is a much easier job if a hub with the baring already installed can be purchased as i dont want to mess around paying someone to press the baring in for me.

I have found the R32 part number to be 8N0407613C.

Just making sure that the Mk4 R32/Audi TT Quatro hubs are indeed the same as the Bora 4Mo before i spend the cash.

    TIA

strange, my exact same bearing is starting to let go too. maybe they cop a flogging riding in the gutter and with the weight from the engine...

keen to know the answer to this also if anyone can help please...

        Thanks Dylan.

Any idea what the part number is for the Bora or where to get them locally other than Volkswagon?

So rather than risk chance i gave the local VW dealer a call and had them check the part number according to my chassis number and they came up with MF#1J0498625 for the bearing.

So i chucked one in my ECS shopping cart along with Neuspeed dogbone bushings in an attempt to put a stop to some really annoying cabin vibrations.
Now i just need to find someone locally who can get the old bearing out of my hub and press the new one in without charging me an d arm and a leg.

I'm moving to Coffs Harbour soon... not looking forward to finding an honest and reliable mechanic there who i can trust with my cars

I'll report back when the job is done

Bearing for R32 is 8L0498625 hubs are 8N0407253 and 8N0498624
Bora bearing is like you posted and Hubs are 1J0407255AH and 1J0407256AH
Being different parts numbers means there is a difference I do not know what it is.

What exactly are you after ?
Bearing , hub or upright ?

The Bora is the same as the mk4 GTI
The TT/S3 and the R32 are the same upright but the hub is different on the 99/00 TT compared to the later ones with the Bolt for the CV joint instead of the nut .
The control arm on the TT/S3 are the same (incl FWD models) the R32 uses a different control arm bush thats a lot bigger
The TT/S3 R32 all use a different ball joint and Tie-rod as well .

When looking for replacements thinking they were the same as the R32, i came across the hub+bearing pre-assembled combo so naturally i thought i could use it for the Bora. The same assembled combo never came up in my search for the Bora when i found out that they were different. So i have just ordered the bearing and i'll do it the old fashioned way.
