  • MK4 Battery -ve terminal

    Hi All,

What tools are required to remove the negative terminal on the MK4 Battery?

Just getting ready to install a new stereo headunit.

edit, if I am just taking out the old VWw headunit and putting a new pioneer head unit, do I even need to disconnect the negative terminal first?

Using ISO plugs and plug and play harnesses.

    Thanks,
    K.

10mm socket will sort the battery
You could leave it active but best to remove it.

Always disconnect the battery terminals when working with electronics. You've got exposed metal and a nice 14.4v's of power running through the system. You don't want to short anything - these cars have highly complex electronics.

Remember that the yellow and red wires need to be swapped in order to keep the stereo on if your using the ISO connectors. Just switch it in your adapter.
