  • Rear end repairs - V5 Bora

    Hi everyone,

My V5 Bora got hit right on the driver's rear wheel and as a result there is enough damage to the suspension to write the car off.

I have an option to buy the car back from the insurance company - it's too good to wreck.

My question is, how feasible is it to replace the rear end with another? Is it a case of unbolting a subframe and fitting another, or would it have to be rebuilt component by component.

    Cheers

    David

Depends how bent it is. If it is just the axle, thats a couple of hours and a brake bleed. Just be wary that a "cheap" fix might escalate. Have the insurance given a list of parts they need to get to fix it. New axle probably puts them off.

      Thanks for your reply.

I've only spoken to the assessor who said that there are a lot of bent components and that they would only use new parts to repair it, which is why the cost would be high.

I was thinking of a complete rear end swap from a donor vehicle.

You need that list from assessor.
