Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • WHAT should i be concerned about!!! 02" BORA V6 4MOTION

OK sooooooooo, as the title states. I have just bought a Bora and although i am a past VAG owner (Audi) i am not to familiar with the dubs. Basically it is going in tomorrow to Eurotune for a full service and full check up and what have you. The previous owner had the last 20k of the car serviced by a mate 'i presume' but the books haven't been stamped?? Al-bight there appears to be receipts for works carried out over that period of time being Haldex etc etc...

So basically what should i be looking at to be serviced and replaced etc etc..... and also price expectation? The vehicle in question is a 2002 V6 4MOTION manual and has just hit 140k.

    Thanks in advance,

    Dev.

Hahahha welcome to owning a bora 4motion!!

These things are riddled with problems. Honestly, whether it's failing coolant hoses/t-joints, busted sensors (car seems to have about 50 of them), self destructing door locks/rear vision mirrors/coil plugs, peeling and/or cracking interior plastics, random emission hoses that are insanely expensive, diffs that love to jam their clutches or just don't work and driveline parts that seem to prematurely wear out and expensive as hell to replace.

What has come up on your roadworthy?
