Mk4 rear guards?

    Mk4 rear guards?

    Hi guys, some of you may know I've purchased a new GTI and I'm currently after some help.

    Is it possible to pull the rear guards a bit with a guard roller and heat gun to stop it from munching away at my tires haha?

    Also what're your opinions on adjustable sway bar connections for the front to drop it a bit lower?

    The biggest drama you face running that low is the wheel swinging forward in the arch. There's plates out there (ECS) to move the axle back so the wheel is in the middle of the arch again.

    I appreciate the pursuit of looks but don't forget you are compromising handling at the same time.

        leave the rear arches. they can tuck 10s easy. molested mk4 arches look horrid

        as for the front. just remove the sway bar. its not going to handle once you lowered it so might as well chase some comfort

            Are you still running the stock sway bar or is it upgraded? The upgraded aftermarket sway bars are usually made with lowering in mind and don't tend to rub. Getting them in without a hoist is an exercise in frustration, but possible ...

            I'd respectfully disagree about taking out the sway bar completely unless you only drive on straight roads - it's not like the Mk4 is the sharpest handling car on the block to begin with and having no sway bar is going to make handling a whole lot worse.

            I guess it depends what direction you're going with this build - looks or handling?

              Thanks guys!
              After some effort today I pulled the liners out and took a little lip off the edge of the guards but it's still rubbing on the inside
              With some thought and my parents encouraging me it's being raised up to a more reasonable height tomorrow
              Continuous rubbing over tiny bumps has gotten to me and I have noticed the difference in handling aha

              Swaybar is staying put and I'm yet to have any issues with it rubbing so I think it should be fine even at the current height

              I've had my fun but this height really isn't practical and getting a defect is the last thing I want [emoji23]
