Uhh classic 1.8t gave the engine bay a quick degreasing and hose let it dry for 20 mins, then move it back out in the parking lot. Finished work a few hours later and no start. Just cranks. Now the fuel pump doesn't prime when I open the door. Or when ignition is on. Pump fuse is fine. Other thing was I've got a pod instead of the airbox. I've relocated the ignition amp under the cowl away from the heat. But im thinking that probably isn't enough. Can they cause no start? As I thought when they go bad it's usually a rough idle etc. Going to have a good look tomorrow for more info as I needed to get home ASAP so I left the car.

I have serious VAG issues. -
Is the pod soaked. Dry that out, I'd expect some popping to occur though if it was the pod.
Ignition amp wants to be clean and dry obviously. Again, I'd expect some kind of action in the cylinders.
The crank position sensor would be a highly probable culprit that would cause complete silence. The plug lives under the inlet manifold. A white/grey one.
You don't get to hear the pump prime every time the door is open. Be worth cracking the fuel line as it meets the fuel rail just to prove it's got pressure. Obviously, a rag to stop it going everywhere.

Crank sensor then is my guess. Check for fuel though. Maybe pull a spark plug and check for a spark.
