TDI wasn't sold here only over seas. There are a few floating around as private imports.

might keep updating this every now and then as im getting odds and ends left and right at the moment

            S2000 air filter $37
            silicone reducer $11
            nipple clamps $4
            710N $47

            callipers (looks like a 57mm piston from a A4?)
            carriers
            remsa pads $217

Currently on the hunt for a set of 312mm rotors? any recommendations, or just go solid dba's from ebay?

suspension wise i was going to go for the basic SRT setup with hr OE springs, i dont care about looks or ride height, just a setup with half decent handling for 2-3 track days a year

For a std car with a stage 1 tune I think you'd find std brake discs with better pads fine. Lito ran 288s on his Golf with the frankenturbo, only last year did he fit the R32 brakes.

I am very suspicious that the A4 brakes would fit. It's not the caliper you need anyway but the bracket from an 8LS3/8NTT or Bora 4mo or V5 that has 312 brakes already.

Discs I'd just buy from GSL Rallysport they are a forum sponsor and in Brisbane. I have Remsa pads in my cars and they perform well on the street and track.

What's SRT? You cannot spend too much on suspension. However it is real easy to spend too little!!!!

Rather than buy cheap and get a rear roll bar. Spend the roll bar money on better suspension.

Seconded. My stock GTi is now fitted with Koni sport shockies and Eibach pro springs. Night and Day. Handling is much much better and still a "comfortable" ride with some compliance in the springs.

PS. Not a cheap option tho'

I will have a mosey re the brakes. I have TT carriers so worst case scenario i will use the carriers only with the existing calipers and remsa pads and hit up GSL for some plain discs. Ive seen on audizine a few people say the only difference is the piston size but will know for sure this weekend (it was worth a punt considering carriers from the UK alone left no change out of 100 quid)

(EDIT - aparently i cant link to ECS but the shockies are koni SRT.T shocks)

These are the koni shocks, they have got good reviews when apired up with HR OE springs, but i dont know if thats just because anything is better than stock. Its a improvement that is subjective as always

i dont want to bung them on and have a go in someone else's car and find a setup for 20-30% more that smashes it. Would be nice to do it once and do it right

                  roll bar noted

what would you say your setup puts your mk4 on par with? comparable to a stock mk5/mk6 etc etc? just trying to get a idea of what im coming from, and where im going to

                  How much was it landed?

Can't help much with the comparo. Haven't really pushed it hard. Suffice to say it behaves better on the road than our stock Mk5 TDI (It's a bit tired also) but not as good as my Skoda or Gen4 Subaru Liberty (Which has been passed down to one of my sons)
It does, however, handle more than adequately for stock tune. We shall see if suitable for a Stage 1 soon ish.

                    Re costs -
Koni Sport yellows ~ $1150 in my hand
Eiback pro series springs ~ $ 350 in my hand
Plus I purchased an ECS suspension refresh kit with mounts etc.
So, as I said, not cheap ! But all good quality and the Koni sports are really impressive. Plus we have 17 inch Conti max rubber on board as well. A huge leap from when we purchased it in Jan with shagged shockies, std wheels with crappy rubber and sagging springs and bushes.

PS. The Koni str.t should be a fair bit less than that number and will be more "compliant" than the sports. But can't say I have a feel for how much difference there would be. Sorry !

                      !
Which is the potentially same money as a set of coilovers from MCA. And then you would need a pair of rear LCA bushes.

                      Comes with camber top mounts.

Yep. And as Gav states you get camber adjustment. 'cos there aint no adjustment in a std mk4 without adding bits.
Plus its MCA ! Great reputation.

                            Minor update

                            SuperPro Dogbone mounts 45
Whiteline 24mm on the rear 200
Audi TT manifold 110, This was a impulse buy that i probably shouldn't have bought but the more i have been reading about the k04-020 setups, the more i like the idea

Have friends that go to the states (ecs) and family that visit from the uk so between them i should be able to save a fair bit

Leaving the stockies on, and keeping stock ride height as my car has been keyed twice and its f#$%^! stock

I dont reckon i would be able to sleep at night with a set of 18's on

                              update

As its now a donor car to the MK1 project anything thats not transferable is being left alone

g60/vr6 clutch kit from four seasons 550 landed
A couple of ebay clones 40
Ghetto cable to run 12v to OBD port 30

couple of lost months on netmofo and its running

Will have to have a play with someone with a branded tune at some stage. Its a old car but feels alright now

Pending BBT K280 turbo, immo defeat, at which point a branded tune will be needed as i don't have the energy to piss around with MAF scaling on such a old platform
