Hey everyone was thinking I'll start modding my mk4 golf 1998
It's only a 1.6l so more leaning towards the looks (coilovers, fat wheels etc)
If you guys have any ideas Id love to hear some post some pics too that'd be sweet interior mods are cool too!

Pretty sure you'll need to put a resistor on the indicator fluid delete though...
But seriously it's your car, do what you want with it. As said above a set of coils and some lower offset wheels would be a good place to start. And never being one to shy away from whoring out my car, this is what I've chosen to do with mine..

always remember the 1.6 is never going to be fast so don't try and make it fast. go buy a GTI if you want that, you will save thousands.

a set of JOM coilovers and a set of nice wheels will make it 100% cooler straight away.
add a rear sway bar and it will handle amazingly.

          then just enjoy

Thanks for the replies guys! Yeah I won't be modifying the engine whatsoever, as you said just buy a gti... One day :p

What's the indicator fluid delete?? And what will that do?

Atm I'm working on getting some jom coilovers and changing the black rub strips to red
            Thanks

Haha, yeah sorry about the indicator fluid thing. Keep an eye on the classified section a lot of nice 5x100 wheels come up in there. Or hit up Dylan from a few posts above, that guy always seems to have really nice wheels for sale

I think everyones mentioned coilovers/nice wheels for exterior.
You mentioned interior mods: maybe an R32 brushed aluminium trim swap + an OEM look double din touchscreen HU?

Thanks Blake I sprayed the handles all around the car silver with plasti dip and it looks so fresh! I love it
Already have a touchscreen HU but the previous owner didn't do a good job at installing it so my plastics are a bit broken so won't be spraying around there for a bit haha

Thanks Lito! I'll keep an eye out for some nicer wheels but may even just keep the gti alloys I have on it atm

Also does anyone know if I can get cheaper coilovers anywhere? So far the cheapest I can find Id JOM for $460 which is pretty good already

you'll regret going any cheaper imo.

Jom would be the cheapest I would go. They go great for the money and will last long enough til you decide if you wanna spend more on this car or upgrade etc.
i got my Jom coils 2nd hand for $200 which was a bargain and they are fine
