need to fit remote locking, how?

Im starting to get sick of having to unlock my doors with a key.
Just wondering the best way about getting remote locking. Does anyone have a how to/wiring diagrams?
I dont want to spend a heap of cash.
Why didnt VW put this in from factory, everyone else was in 99.

I remember fitting alarm remote upgrade kits.. You could buy them from VW as an upgrade from Votex.
Was a fairly simple install
Im sure someone must remember a part number, i was 9 yrs ago mind you.
